Exceptional Graduate Quantity Surveyors are required for exciting projects based in Woking, Croydon, Luton, Watford and Oxford. Candidates must have experience of working for a Tier 1 contractor.

A member of the project commercial team, reporting to the Project Commercial lead, you will be responsible for assisting with tendering and subsequent placing and management of various subcontract works packages during both the pre-construction and construction phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Assisting the project quantity surveying team in carrying out any pre or post-contract quantity surveying functions
• Liaising proactively with other team members
• Assisting in the preparation of sub-contract orders from the preparation of the tender enquiry through to the placement of the subcontract order, including liaising with the Procurement Department
• Attending post-tender subcontract interviews
• Measurement of building and civil engineering works
• Assisting in the preparation of monthly valuation of the works
• Assisting in the preparation of final accounts
• Assisting in the assessment of sub-contract monthly valuations and final accounts
• Preparation of subcontractor’s payment certificates
• Liaising with subcontractors and agreement of subcontract final accounts
• Liaising, where requested, with the employer or employer’s financial representative
• Assisting in the evaluation and submission of changes for both the main contract and subcontracts
• Assisting in the cost checking and cost management, including cost checking and analysis of labour, plant and materials
• Contributing, where necessary, in the preparation of the project CVR report
• Assisting in the preparation and collation of records as requested by the Project Quantity Surveying Team
• Where requested collate and present feedback to the Estimating Department
• Assisting in cost planning and 2nd stage/negotiated tendering

Skills & Knowledge:

• Experience in a support role for the commercial/package lead and package management commercially
• Understanding of the construction industry and the commercial function
• Ability to work as part of a team but also independently with some supervision
• A keen eye for change and a positive can-do approach
• Ability to communicate well
• Some knowledge of measurement of building and civil engineering

Qualifications (essential): 

• BSc Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management
• Relevant Construction Skill Certification Card
