We shared the results of a natural capital impact study conducted in partnership with Hammerson at a recent workshop for clients, designers and consultants.
Natural capital accounting enables impacts on our environment to be assessed on the same terms and using the same language as financial capital.
The study explored the natural capital impacts of photovoltaics and LED lighting systems at WestQuay Watermark and gas fired CHP Brent Cross. For the executive summary please click here and for the full report click here.
The workshop looked to understand the key building elements that have the greatest natural capital impact, how the reporting of natural capital can sit alongside financial reporting, and the opportunities and challenges around its integration across the industry.
We are now looking at ways to embed natural capital accounting in the way we measure sustainability performance, as well as approaching clients to further develop its use on our projects.
