This Foster + Partners-designed cancer care centre at The Christie hospital in south Manchester will provide advice and support to people with cancer as well as their friends and family.
The timber-framed structure is arranged around a wide, central spine with the roof rising in the centre to create a mezzanine level illuminated with natural light. An integrated glass house extends from the south of the building. The surrounding gardens are designed by landscape designer Dan Pearson.
The project follows the successful delivery of the award-winning Maggie’s Centre in Swansea.
The company has also been awarded the contract to construct a Maggie’s Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, and assisted with the delivery of an interim centre at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool.
