As well as the construction of many of its architecturally significant centres, we’ve committed to raising £1,000,000 over ten years for the charity. Six years into that commitment, and we have already reached this milestone with our current fundraising total adding up to over £1million following our #MillionForMaggies campaign in Spring 2022.
Each Maggie’s centre boasts a unique design that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, offering a tranquil and inviting sanctuary away from the clinical atmosphere of traditional hospital settings.
The blueprint for Maggie’s Centres was established by Maggie Keswick Jencks who, along with her husband Charles, understood the restorative impact inspirational environment and design can have. That same healing architectural philosophy continues to be reflected within its centres; from the kitchen table at their heart, to the peaceful corners, and the many opportunities to connect with nature.

Our virtual Maggie's is made up of bricks representing the number of hours of support our collective fundraising efforts would pay for.
Every fundraising activity goes towards adding another brick into the virtual Maggie's Centre. Think of it as a totaliser in virtual bricks.

Our journey with Maggie's Centres began at the award-winning Singleton Hospital in Swansea, designed by Kisho Kurokawa. Since then, we've taken on the challenge of constructing several other Maggie's Centres, including those at The Christie in Manchester, St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, the Royal Marsden, St James’s Teaching Hospital in Leeds, Southampton General Hospital and most recently, The Royal Free Hospital.
To achieve these extraordinary designs at a high quality within budget, we provide buildability and financial advice well in advance. Our teams start by scrutinising the plans in minute detail. Transforming vision into reality, we stay true to the architect’s vision while keeping construction lean, efficient and collaborative.
Each centre has its challenges: working on a restricted hospital site in St Bart’s; perfecting the geometry and curves in Swansea; and creating the elaborate timber frame at Manchester.
But through innovation, close collaboration, precise planning and continuous communication we have brought these visions to life.
And putting hearts as well as heads behind each project, the relationship has grown. Now, through our corporate partnership we are generating vital funds, donations and support.

Built amongst a cluster of medical buildings at St James’ University Hospital in Leeds, Maggie’s Yorkshire is a cancer care centre like no other with its trio of interconnected levels and landscaped roofs.
Our construction knowledge and know-how was key in helping realise the complex architectural vision for Maggie’s at The Christie in Manchester.
Our Special Projects delivered this technically complex healthcare project within live hospital campus and protected it’s Grade I listed neighbours.
Our Special Projects team delivered this verdant ‘New Forest’ inspired healthcare project for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres, on time and on budget, at Southampton’s General Hospital.
Careful planning and meticulous collaboration ensured the successful completion of this design-led scheme on a busy working hospital site.

Latest fundraising efforts from our colleagues around the business have added five new bricks to our virtual Maggie's centre bringing us closer to our 100,000 hours for Maggie's goal.
Ryan Armstrong and a team of fundraisers from our M6DBFO team are taking on Ben Nevis to help raise £100,000 for the cancer support charity.
